HTML Heading Tags: <H1> to <H6> and </H1> to </H6>
HTML supports six levels of headings which diminish in size from <H1>, the largest, to <H6>, the smallest. The heading tags may use the qualifier ALIGN=value, where the value can be LEFT, RIGHT of CENTER; for example:
<H1 ALIGN=center> HTML Code Tutorial </H1>
will produce the following heading:
HTML Head Tag: <Head> to </Head>
This tag is used to hold information about the HTML document itself. A typical example of the tag is as follows:
<HEAD> <TITLE> This is the page title </TITLE> </HEAD>
HTML Horizontal Rule Tag: <HR>
This tag produces a single horizontal line, which by default will span the available display width. It may have the following attributes:
ALIGN: This attribute is used to align the horizontal rule and can be one of LEFT, RIGHT, CENTRE or JUSTIFY.
SRC: Used to specify the file name of the image file for custom <HR> images
SIZE: Specifies the height of the horizontal in pixels.
WIDTH: Specifies the width of the horizontal rule in pixels or as a percentage of the available page width.
HTML HTML Tag: <HTML> and </HTML>
The main "container" of an HTML document, this tag is not mandatory but should be used to identify this document as an HTML document.
HTML HTML Tag: <I> and </I>
As for the emphasis tag, this tag displays the enclosed text in italic characters.
HTML Image Tag: <IMG>
The image tag is used to display graphics and photographs on your web page. The tag has the following attributes:
ALIGN: Used to align the image and surrounding text, this attribute can have one of the following values: absbottom, absmiddle, baseline, bottom, left, middle, right, texttop, of top.
ALT: Displays a text string if using a non-graphical browser.
BORDER: Indicates the thickness of the border in pixels.
HEIGHT: Indicates the height of the image in pixels.
HSPACE: Indicates the amount of horizontal space in pixels around the image.
ISMAP: Indicates that this graphic is an imagemap.
LOOP: Indicates the number of times a video clip will be played.
LOOPDELAY: Indicates the delay in seconds before a video clip is replayed.
NOBORDER: Indicates that no border is to be displayed around the image.
SRC: Specifies the file name of the image to be displayed.
VSPACE: Indicates the amount of vertical space in pixels around the image.
WIDTH: Indicates the width of the image in pixels.
The following is a typical example of the use of the <IMG> tag:
<IMG SRC="myimage.gif" BORDER=2 WIDTH=100 HEIGHT=200 ALT="my image">
HTML Input Tag: <INPUT>
The input tag, which is specified within a pair of <FORM> tags, provides user input fields, of varying types from simple text boxes to password boxes, radio buttons and check boxes. The tag has the following attributes:
ALIGN: Used to vertically align an image specified by the TYPE=image attribute, this attribute can have one of the following values: absbottom, absmiddle, baseline, bottom, left, middle, right, texttop, or top.
CHECKED: Indicates that a check box or radio button is pre-selected. Unselected items do not return name-value pairs when the form is submitted.
MAXLENGTH: Indicates the maximum number of characters that can be entered into a text field.
NAME: Required by most input types, this attribute is used to provide a unique identifier for an input field or a related group of fields.
SIZE: Specifies the size or precision of the input field depending on its type.
SRC: Used to provide a URL for an image specified by the TYPE=image attribute.
TYPE: Defines the type of data that the input field can accept. The following data types are supported:
Checkbox: This data type provides a group of chack boxes any one or more of which can be selected or deselected by the user.
Image: This attribute creates a clickable image field which when clicked causes the form to be submitted.
Password: The same as the text attribute except the text entered is displayed as a row of asterisks.
Radio: This data type provides a group of radio buttons any one only of which can be selected or deselected by the user.
Reset: This attribute provides a button which when clicked resets all of the forms data fields to their specified initial values.
Submit: This attribute provides a button which when clicked submits the form to the server for processing.
Text: This data type provides a single line text entry field.
Value: This attribute determines the initial displayed value of the data field. This attribute is mandatory for the TYPE=radio function.
HTML List Item Tag: <LI>
This is a general-purpose tag used with the <OL>, <UL> and <DL> tags to provide an entry in a list. No closing tag is required.
